About Ovopixel

Ovopixel turns an image, text or a blank grid into an editable color chart. Choose rectangular flat single crochet using US terminology, or full cross stitch with DMC colors and stitch lettering.

One grid, many small decisions

Draw stitches, change colors, mirror a motif and check the row sequence. The work happens in your browser. Save a project to return later, or download a printable chart to keep beside your yarn.

Made to grow carefully

The shared pixel workbench supports single crochet and full cross stitch. Each mode has its own sizing, empty-square rules and printable output. Cross stitch uses fabric count; crochet uses your measured swatch.

How we prepare our guides

Ovopixel publishes these guides for its flat US single-crochet and full cross stitch tools. Digital chart previews use the same stitch data as the editable examples. Conversion comparisons show output from the image converter with their settings stated alongside them.

Worked size and yarn calculations use labeled example measurements. They are not measurements of finished pieces. Digital examples are not presented as test-crocheted patterns; measure your own swatch before planning a project.

Articles show an updated date when their content changes. If you find a chart, calculation or explanation that needs correcting, contact hi@ovopixel.com with the page and the steps you followed.

Cross stitch color and font credits

DMC screen colors are adapted from MakeBead craft-color-codes, CC BY 4.0. The Classic and Serif bitmap fonts retain their source notices and permission terms. The Manrope print font uses the SIL Open Font License. Color values are approximate screen previews.

Photographs and chart examples

Six editable starter charts are original Ovopixel grid designs; four more adapt Kenney’s CC0 Tiny Farm pixel art, credited on the Examples page. The real crochet photographs are their makers’ work, used as references for colorwork and stitch texture. They are not finished pieces made from those starter charts.

Images use Wikimedia Commons’ 960-pixel previews, displayed within responsive frames. Image content is unchanged; some frames crop the displayed view. The source photographs retain their stated licenses.
